Ilulissat

You just have to go hiking when you visit Ilulissat. This photo shows the town looking north. The harbour entrance is in the middle with icebergs dotted around. The entrance can become completely blocked with an on shore wind. The chimney on the generating station has been painted with a bright pattern.

Looking north west across Disko bay towards Disko Island. We had sailed through this the previous day!

I always visit the town cemetery. This one is positioned with a magnificent view across Disko Bay.

Looking south the view is even more dramatic. The "white rocks" in the background are my first site of the tangled mass of ice bergs in the ice fiord.
