Sisimiut ( Holsteinborg) 66 57N 53 41W

We are now north of the Arctic Circle and in early July the sun never sets.

The harbour is quite small and crowded but rafting is accepted by everyone.

Unfortunately the anchorage in Ulkebugt is not available because a bridge has been built to the airfield.
Sisimiut has a boat repair yard and marine railway for haul out.

I know someone who left their boat here over winter with no problems.
This yacht from Norway is one of five other cruising boats we encountered in Greenland. This boat had already been as far north as Disko Island and was on it's way south.
Sisimiut has a population of about 4500 so is a good place to obtain supplies. This is the Pasifik supermarket, one of a chain which has stores in most towns of this size. Many of the KNI stores mentioned in the RCC cruising guide and the Lonely Planet have changed their name to Pasifik.

Note the paved road. Most towns have good paved roads with lots of new cars even though the roads do not link from town to town.
