Nuuk

The people are Greenlandic, Scandinavian or of mixed race. I found everyone very friendly and eager to help.

Language is Greenlandic or Danish but many people also speak English. If you want to be certain of finding someone who speaks English approach someone who looks Scandinavian.

Nuuk has several modern buildings most of which have a Scandinavian feel. This is the Katuaq Greenland Cultural Centre.

I got onto the internet at the public library which is just south of this building.

Nuuk is a good place to stock up on provisions and buy gifts. This is one of the downtown stores.

Prices are high by North American standards but not too high by European. The big surprise was the price of fuel - it is HALF the price of Canadian fuel so Europeans will find it ridiculously cheap. I guess it must be heavily subsidized.

This is the old part of Nuuk known as Kolonihavnen.

It's worth the walk from the main harbour to see the old buildings and visit the Greenland national museum in this area.
