June 20th is Pinata Day   "It's A Boy"

Surveying Stage 2 June 28th

Lesson learned, never never never ever nail down a deck with 4" or any other size nails

Trying to salvage some joists

Setting the new main side joist

Redirecting gutter run off to avoid washing out new deck supports

With path to old steps incorporated and squared off corners it looks bigger

Block and post to support the frame double beam at front for overhang

Combination new full length joists and shorter overlapped recycled joists

Samantha measured cut and laid the boards while I laboured for her,  Paul and Tony followed behind and screwed them in place

The Saga Of The Railings

We knew glass panels were way beyond the budget but looking on the Kijiji  Home Renovations page I happened to see a new posting as it appeared.    Four glass panels with top and bottom rails for $60.   I  phoned and bought them sight unseen but couldn't pick up and pay for almost a week as both buyer and seller has other plans.  It was a  nerve wracking time

Dave had higher offers but true to his word they were ready and waiting at the agreed price when  Samantha and I arrived.  We had to buy posts as the original were wood, I thought wood would be a good and economical option but Samantha had her heart set on metal

Of course we started with the glass panels

Decided to place all glass panels together instead of alternating

Design Meeting, arrangement of narrow and wide pickets

We were on the lookout for a bargain to complete the job.  A lucky visit to Habitat produced several packs but not enough narrow pickets,  A few visits to others in the area produced the rest but they were wider

Hey Samantha "Haven't you got any work to do"?
