The Surreal Pandemic Summer of 2020

Swinging With Grandma

This was a strange year at Walli's Weir, as it was around the world as we came to grips with the reality of a global pandemic.  The season got off to a late start, there were to be no casual campers and no visitors who were not from our own households.  Masks were to be worn in the office and laundry with distance maintained between campers, all community events were cancelled.   Fortunately we could still stand on the river bank and chat to neighbours on their decks or walk around the grounds for exercise.  Small groups could visit for campfires but distance had to be maintained   The playground equipment was blocked off initially but when the Provincial 'rules' eased they were allowed to be opened up.  Dave and Sharon's site was occupied each week by John, an American who was allowed to come and go across the border as his work maintaining wind turbines was considered essential.  Strangely quiet but everyone was just happy to be there

If you take my advise you'll find it quite nice.  To be messing about on the river"
