There was a festive air about this village, and a very loud sound system being set up where these expectant children were obviously waiting for something to begin.

Tony  produced his stickers and soon had a rival attraction going  but he was no competition for the game of chance going on close by.

We have seen this game before, notably in Burmese market places but have never been able to take a close look nor a photos.  I guess it is illegal in Burma and one can never be sure who is watching.

It seemed to us to be a manual 'fruit machine'.  Each cube had numbers on every side, they were rolled down the ramp and depending on which number were face up, you either won or lost.

The main event turned out to be a wedding

Family, very close friends and us, are in the brides home where the ceremony is taking place.  Well wishers tie ribbons on to the wrists of the bride and groom and then tuck in a banknote.  Our contribution was well received.

Unfortunately our guide and driver needed to press on so we couldn't stay to see what happened next.
